Maths Time Joy releases new record 'Honesty' with songstress Ayelle through Platoon

Having previously collaborated on single ‘Cut Them Loose’ earlier this year, Grammy nominated British producer & songwriter Maths Time Joy joins forces yet again with Swedish-Iranian songwriter and vocalist Ayelle to create their stunning new track 'Honesty', out December 7th through Platoon.

Speaking about the track Ayelle explains "Maths and I wrote this song in our first session, previously to that we'd just worked remotely. It's about the kind of guys who are open and honest about only wanting one thing, as if it will automatically absolve them from what they feel. Feelings are feelings though and sometimes people develop them, it's unrealistic not to take responsibility for them."

MATHS TIME JOY

'Honesty' is the follow up to Maths Time Joy's critically acclaimed ‘Sunset Motel EP', which was released in June this year and has amassed over 3.5 million streams online. The EP was crowned BBC 1Xtra Jamz Supernova #1 EP.

Hunger Magazine proclaimed Maths Time Joy as "as a key player in the UK’s production revolution". In just the past few months he has soundtracked Chanel’s ad campaign featuring Lily Rose Depp, produced Mahalia’s singles including ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ and ‘No Reply’ alongside supporting her live at The Scala in May, featured on Majestic Casual’s session with Flores, executive-produced Joel Baker’s 'The Dreamers EP', and created a guest mix for La Belle Musique.

His tracks have received coveted placements in Spotify US ‘New Music Friday’ and Apple Music's ‘Best Of the Week’ and ‘A-List: Electronic’ playlists. In addition, praise has come from the likes of Complex, FACT, Hilly Dilly, The Line of Best Fit, Indie Shuffle, CLASH, Mahogany and many more. It follows on from his previous EP ‘Sanctuary’, which gained support from the likes of Annie Mac, i-D and Pigeons and Planes, and included his collaboration with Gallant on track 'Cerulean'.

He spent the majority of 2017 producing for other artists including Mahalia (Sober, No Pressure, Proud of Me, No Reply and I Wish I Missed My Ex), Kevin Garrett (A Heart Like Yours) RØMANS (Overthinking ft. Mary J Blige), Snakehips/Malika (Put It On Me) to name a few, as well as earning a Grammy nomination for his work on Gallant’s ‘Ology”.

AYELLE

Swedish-Iranian Ayelle has been songwriting ever since she learned how to write.

Growing up in Sweden and Spain, she continued on to pursue music in London, where she has since garnered support from the likes of Majestic Casual, BBC 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova, Chill Nation, Wonderland Magazine, Complex UK, Billboard, Indie Shuffle, The Line of Best Fit, Earmilk and Hillydilly.

The PRS Women Make Music grantee is known for bittersweet, sultry vocals and emotive lyrics. Drawing inspiration from own life experiences, her writing explores power dynamics within relationships, challenging the status quo, as well as sparking discussion and self-reflection.

With releases on Majestic Causal and Bitbird, and more recently with Believe Digital, Ayelle has racked up millions of streams in the last year and is now steadily carving out her own space whilst continuously innovating her sound and collaborating with a range of different producers and artists.

Her latest EP 'Slow Clap' was picked as Jamz Supernova's #1 EP on BBC1Xtra and with upcoming official showcases at SXSW 2019, Ayelle does not seem to be slowing down any time soon.
