The 2024 APRA awards were held in Sydney this Wednesday, with grentperez coming out a winner for the "Emerging Songwriter of the Year Award". The Awards aim to highlight the best in the Australian music scene every year, and this year once again proves to have done just that.
This years APRA nominations included some of the biggest names in the world right now, such as Troye Sivan, Sia, G-Flip, The Kid LAROI and but also included none other than our very own grentperez. Grant's nomination and subsequent win of the "Emerging Songwriter of the Year"award has come as no surprise though, considering the breakout-year 2023 was for him.
Grant's nomination for "Emerging Songwriter of the Year" sat alongside singer-songwriter MAY-A, pop duo Royel Otis and upcoming female rock band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. The stiff competition Perez was up against makes the win even more astounding, and will act as a total credit to his writing ability going forwards - not that he needs it. With hit's such as "Cherry Wine" and "Clementine", there's little convincing the music industry requires about his talent for writing and where his career is headed in the future, but this win will no doubt put him at the forefront of artists to watch out for during 2024.
